From Rosmah's wardrobe
Rosmah, our headless hired help, is trully dedicated to her career and personal passion for fashion and she's proving it here with her Raya attires :p
What can we say? Our limbless Rosmah is quite the camera whore. If she had the chance to sambut hari lebaran with the rest of us, these would be the clothes she'd try to pull off.
And what do you know...she's sticking to vintage too!

This is a piece circa 1980's. It's actually a baju kurung with snaps converted into a a long kebaya top instead. We love the motif on the fabric!
This one came from the early 90's and back then it was called a Baju Kurung Modern! We can surely see this coming back into our current modern times and we would definitely get a few pieces for ourselves.
Too bad Rosmah will be keeping down the fort while we go off to bersalam-salaman and bermaaf-maafan because these outfits would be perfect for the occasion. She understands though because apart from not having arms and legs to do any of that, she's also fully aware of the fact that she's flammable and we're going to be around firecrackers.
Play safe everyone and Happy Eid!

A little tweak
I was sifting through the piles of unused photos taken from the first photo shoot for the shop and thought what a pity for these pictures to go to waste. I can't keep them all as they eat up a lot of space on my hard drive so I've decided to use the initially rejected photos for 3 of the items as the main pictures to properly represent them and move the current pictures (the one with the different backgrounds) after the page jump. I wasn't quite fond of the latter pictures to begin with but I wanted to make sure that the items were clear enough for my customers to see although they didn't turn out to be as appealing. Those pictures just did not do justice to the actual aesthetic of the pieces. I also dislike how those pictures have affected the overall feel of the blog so I see it fit to use the original shots to spruce up the face of the blogshop and to keep a uniform look to it.
One of the pictures I've switched is that of the Clay Red dress (DC015) which if I may add is one of my favorites from the lot and I'm half hoping that they'll be no takers so that I can lay claim to it myself :p
The material is also really comfortable.
Most of the dresses have been sold and I should clear the blog for easier browsing but I want to keep an online record of what I've placed and sold in the shop. I'm looking at how I can remove the post from the main page and store the sold posts in the sold section only. I'm working on it so please bear with me. Also planning to place a link page as well.
I'm going to start taking pictures for the next full update tomorrow so that I'll have enough time to sort everything out especially since I'm going to be rather busy in September. But no worries, I am fully committed to this small little shop of mine and intend to keep it running. Heck, it hasn't even been a month yet so to fold now would be rather pathetic. Plus, it has been too much fun to quit so soon :p
You really don't want to miss the next collection. We've got some really tempting pieces. Think tea time and walks in the park and lotsa sunshine.
Till then...

The first collection
We launched the Soapsudsy blogshop as planned a week in a half ago and we're happy to announce that all went well :) We've received positive feedback from the online shopping community, family and friends. Sales have been good as well as we've managed to sell more than half of what we put on display for The First Swig collection. We've had some review sites promote us too and we're highly appreciative of that.
It has been a lot of work and play with this project which is really the only way to do it. Although I have to say taking pictures was not as easy as I thought it'd be. Granted that I'm not a professional photographer and have never claimed to be but since I had a pretty good camera and a tripod, I thought I had it all worked out. But when your idea of getting a good picture consist of just snapping away at an angle acceptable to your creative mind until you produce a good picture more by luck than skills, well...let's just say it took waaay longer than I bargained for and eventually the day ended and we didn't have the sun anymore to help with the lighting. I guess taking awesome pictures of cats isn't the same as taking pictures of a static mannequin. A mannequin we've named Rosmah after an actress you may or may not know and looks nothing like the mannequin itself primarily in body shape. Aaand our Rosmah kinda doesn't have a head either :p Also, she sleeps standing upright where no one can see her in a spare bedroom because dude, a headless human shaped thing in the dark - not so comforting. Haha. Anyway, I had to enlist the help of my brother to reshoot the pictures that didn't blend well with the pink background and the ones I couldn't get a sharp view of the patterns. Thanks Kuchai!
We went hunting for more vintage dresses last week and manage to get some really pretty pieces that will entice you. But since Raya is just around the corner, the post office has advised to send all items out before the 22nd so we'll only be putting up our 2nd full collection after the holidays. It's going to be hot so wait for it! In the meantime, our first mini update will hit your computer screen this Wednesday! Sorry for the delay (it was scheduled to be posted tonight but we didn't have the time to take the pictures) but no worries, we'll have it up by hook or by crook.

The first photo shoot!
We got our much awaited mannequin 2 days ago! All the clothes are ready for their photo shoot. Gonna get right to it! The opening teaser has been posted up on the shop's site too and if all goes well, the invitation emails will be sent out by midnight. That's the schedule for today, gotta go chase the light before it retreats for the day :)
Header
The header is up for the blog! My first go at a gif...I think it turned out pretty well if I can say so myself although I'm sure some graphic expert out there is laughing at me and scoffing "amateur!" :p I'll take it...I'm proud of it anyway, haha! I had no particular design in mind, just thought I'd use what I already had lying around and this sums it up quite well on what I'm looking forward for the blog to be. Still under construction though! But a date has been set for the blogshop opening so I'm going to have to stick to the schedule and all should be in place by tomorrow.
By the way, yes, she's chasing a giant bottle of pink lemonade...just another day on this side of the planet :)
