We're still here!
Oh Internet, how we've been away from thee!
Sorry people for the absence.
Hope everyone had a good year end break and now that it's 2012,
Happy New Year!
We're gearing up for some awesome updates.
Rest assured that it will be worth your time.
I've just finished designing this teaser announcement and it'll be up on the main site after I finalize everything. Ceh, I know...macam lah I run a magazine. But hey, content needs to be managed by someone and if it's not me,
who else...
who else...
Still working on a couple of other designs for the site and am looking into reworking the navigation bar to add in more tabs. The next couple of days will be full of picture snapping and editing as well because hell yeah we've got a whole new batch of vintage goodness coming into the shop.

Multitasking
Initially it was between planning a photo shoot and studying (ehem ehem) but then one more thing demanded my attention...
annoying the kitty! I've always wanted a Scottish Fold although the ears on this one seems to have been folded the wrong way :p
Here's to a weekend of multitasking which I'm sure others are more efficient at doing than I am because when I try to combine reading, a bed and a cuddly creature into one moment, you can only expect to hear the outcome in the form of zzzzs from a mile away. Erm...not that I snore or anything.
MINI UPDATE on the way people! Here's a little sneak peak...
And if it's not too late, Happy Deepavali! Hope everyone had a chance to dance during the festival of lights last Wednesday. As always, my neighborhood had fireworks! The best so far of the year and I'm telling you the people here take their fireworks very seriously. No doubt it sounded like a battlefield but who doesn't like colorful explosions in the sky? Perhaps those working the next day but fortunately that was not the case for me :p

Petals upon petals
I've always wanted the occasion to wear a flower garland around my head. Or just a chance to put flowers in my hair without looking like I just fought my way out of the forest or clumsily fell into a thorn bush.
Even a flower headband, be it a bloom of a reasonable size or one bigger than a human face, would make me look like I couldn't possibly have made the decision to put that on voluntarily without also making me look like I'm trying to help nature pollinate in a rather extreme push of effort.
But plastic flowers don't look as pretty as the real thing and the ones that do are expensive. Perhaps the day will come for me to brandish some live flowers perfectly weaved into my locks to celebrate something special for my confidence isn't anchored enough for day to day wear. I haven't been much for floral attires in the past but I do now own several garments covered in a pretty explosion of flower blooms for what I call girly casual days or when I'm feeling rather "ladylike". At least I can pull these pieces off without feeling like someone's going to come at me with a spray bottle of herbicide.
Until I find the right floral crown, I think it’s best to stick to flowers on my clothing and here at Soapsudsy we're going to share the love with these selected flower power pieces.
You'll fit right in a botanical garden so well that you might have to fend yourself from overzealous gardeners :)

Table Discussion
We return with irresistible dresses and some unique tops too after being held back by other matters in life and such. Have to admit, I was a little apprehensive over some of our choices given how it requires a certain type of taste to like some of the pieces we've picked on our hunts. Sometimes I feel that others might not get the potential I see in some styles. Thank God for that voice in my head that likes to nag 'there are kindred spirits out there!'. And what do you know, the quirky, less commercial pieces have sold despite my earlier reservations :) Good to know that there are a number of people out there who get the aesthetics in these pieces.
We were actually planning on putting up a different collection but that whole batch of goodies had to be put on hold as some pieces needed some mending. But since we knew some of you were anxious over the almost empty store, we arranged the '7 Days of Vintage' collection to step to the plate first. Our favorites-
A certain someone was going to stash the last one in her own closet until she was lectured about 'doing business' :p
Speaking of which, we had a bit of a reality check after returning from our last post office visit. Now, as you may know, we're new in the game. And I, myself, am as green to business as a hippo to ballet and I knew I had lots to learn especially since Mathematics and I have never really gotten along well enough in our lives. But we had to put our differences aside and the two of us had a little talk in which the main issue at hand was how things were not adding up correctly. No surprise really if you knew me. I mean, besides not really wanting to subject my brain to the +-/x% and numbers, I also am not out to be greedy and milk as much money as I can from suspecting and unsuspecting people. However, I realize that I need to find a better balance. Bring in quality goods with an affordable price that would not bring me to a loss. This is after all a business and what's that without making any money and even worse, losing money.
When I started the blogshop, I knew I had to compete with those who came before me and are doing well. I also knew that I wanted a blogshop that could offer a different kind of vintage. So when I set up shop, I found that I was able to be different in the sense that all of Soapsudsy's products thus far are NEW vintage and have NEVER been worn. Or so we were told from our suppliers. We have no reason to doubt them as the clothes do not look like they have been worn and we certainly have not worn them ourselves other than to try them on for size before we wash them. Plus, we are particular in selecting our product. We also wanted to make sure that they were clean so we wash them first and some we even send for dry-cleaning for extra care. Most importantly, we also wanted to offer a good price. Because personally, I don't believe in paying a lot of money for something that is old unless it is of the highest of quality and truly categorized as antique. But we now see how we're not covering our cost of operation very well.
While we look forward to maintaining our well-favored prices as well as our free shipping offer nationwide, we're not sure we can cope with bearing the postage cost especially since they've increased the surcharge. With that, there will have to be changes made in order for this to be beneficial to us as well as our lovely customers. We're not sure yet as to what we'll need to change as we certainly would like to continue providing free postage but since hunting for vintage here and there and preparations come at a cost, we may have to cut out some services and/or revise our prices.
Whatever the changes, we'll still bring in pretty vintage pieces well worth your money and our time and effort to keep Soapsudsy afloat. Hopefully, the changes won't be a burden to either one of us. We'll still be very much so at an uber affordable range.
Hope this doesn't sound like a spill from the pitcher of worry, but we just thought we needed to be as honest as possible and there's no harm in that. At least we feel so. See you at our next update, we promise you our incoming will steal your heart away if you're into petals and blooms :)

Under the weather
Hi ho everyone!
I'm sorry to report that I've fallen rather badly ill and it's been hard to get everything done with a heavy head and a congested nose. I caught some kind of virus or bacteria during Raya that just refuses to go away nicely. I've been popping pills like an addict until I can no longer stand the disgusting aftertaste. I have been down in the dumps for an entire week now :( And every one of those days I tried to get up so I could send out the parcels pending delivery but I couldn't. I surely worried that my customers would think that I was delaying their items on purpose or even worse, think that I am trying to rip them off. I want nothing more than to maintain a good record in terms of customer service and product quality so this unfortunate event is not to my approval but there's nothing I can do when it comes to uncontrollable forces. I only hope that my customers understand and would forgive me. I truly appreciate their patience. Not only did they have to wait after the Raya break but they had to wait for me to recover enough to get up. Luckily, I managed to send out all parcels last Friday and I hope nothing will get in the way and arrival will be swift.
I really dislike excuses as I am a buyer myself and I have had some pretty common and suspicious excuses thrown at me for delays and I hope my customers don't feel that way about me. I was truly ill and I am still recovering. It is not my intention to purposely delay any of my business transactions and customer service is important. I've already sent out emails but I would like to make sure that everyone knows that I am sincerely sorry in the case of unexpected delays. I will try my best to avoid such things in the future and will continue to strive for better service.
Since I am still not in the peak of health and have some work that needs my immediate attention, updates will have to be put on hold until further notice. We truly apologize for this but we have to take it slow for a bit. We promise not to be away for too long though so we hope to see you again soon.
Again, we apologize for all delays and thank you for your understanding. Good night!
